After Tuesday’s episode of the 6 part documentary series on Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life, fans were left with a wanting for Machine Gun Love. In the documentary, Ke$ha records the heavy rock-inspired track. After successfully laying down her vocals the raw way Ke$ha does so, as shown in the video below, K$ submits her track to the label seeking approval.
Ultimately, RCA denys the track, claiming it is not “pop enough.’ It’s a sad loss for K$, because the production of Machine Gun Love is different enough to be a successful drift from Animal/Cannibal Ke$ha, without changing the infamous K$ rhymes and vocals (See: “I know you thought we could have a casual sexual kind of thing, but I don’t hookup; I sink in my teeth and eat that raw meat.”) Ke$ha’s album Warrior, although a great party album, lacked serious innovation compared to her previous album/EP. Songs like Machine Gun Love that showcase Ke$ha’s raw and raspy vocals could have done the trick if the labeled allowed her to naturally evolve like every artist should. Luckily for us, our favorite piss-drinking no-fucks-given pop princess is currently performing the hot track on tour for her fans to hear. Although not the highest quality recording, this live version gives a great sense of what the studio track must sound like. This will certainly hold over thirsty Ke$ha fans until the studio version surfaces. *Nudge* Hey Ke$ha *Nudge*
I will need the studio version in order to make a complete judgement, but if produced successfully, this could definitely go down as a favorite K$ track of mine (right next to Dirty Love, of course.)
